Houseboats - legal in NSW still or not ? Where to buy them ?

I am finally selling my home in the country (been trying for 2yrs) and want to get back to where my 7 children and 2 grandchildren are on the central coast. I know the money I get up here is nowhere near enough to buy on the coast and was wondering if anyone knows the laws regarding living in houseboats in NSW ? I know I would have to pay a docking fee every week etc but since the laws have changed soooo much since I was a teen was hoping for a little help on this subject. Back when I was a teen we still stood up in back of utes, could camp anywhere including any park without paying or on side of road and now you HAVE to go to camping grounds and pay and it just really isn't the same as true camping we did with our father. So after that raving on - I know you need a license for everything and anything these days so any sea faring people out there who might know the answer and where to look to buy one if it is still legal ? I looked on net but what a hassle - I click on used houseboats and the darn movie Houseboat comes up, I've looked under classifieds/houseboats, houseboats sold by owner etc but there is always something else like sail boat sheets etc that comes up. PLEASE HELP this is frustrating. xoxo
