Graduation dress ideas?

It's for my 8th grade graduation, it'll be on a boat. I'm "5" and for my grad I don't want just a simple dress like the other girls (example, NOT from a place like Le Chateau or Fairweather, they have simple dress's), it's my special year and I wan't it to be memorable with a beautiful dress unlike any other!! :) So far I'm thinking of having a feather dress or a paint splattered dress, but does anybody else have any other ideas? My mom sows, so she can sow the dress I wan't :)
