Do I need to have anti tetanus shot due to ear piercing?

I just had my ear piercing in the upper part using the gun and it was not painful but after a day my ear got swollen so i removed the earring and i didn't know that I'm not supposed to remove it and when i placed it back the pain is hell so i didn't put it back. I went to the doctor to have it checked and she prescribed some antibiotics and she also said that it can cause tetanus so i need to have a shot but it's so expensive. I saw in the internet that if it's swollen, it's normal and will be okay soon. I need some help from those who experienced this incident. Pleas help me.
